Launch Out Candidates undertake four Pastoral Experience Projects during their time in formation. Each project is concluded in the calendar year and can be carried out in any parish.
Pastoral Experience Projects offer the candidate the opportunity to learn and practice skills needed in pastoral ministry. It forms one part of their formation and is integrated with the other two requirements of the programme, academic learning and prayer.
Each Pastoral Experience Project is carried out under the guidance of a wise mentor. The Launch Out candidate meets regularly with his/her mentor. This provides opportunity for review, moderation, exchange of ideas and resources and theological reflection.
Pastoral Experience Projects have proved to be a valuable resource to parishes. They have given parishes opportunities to have personnel coordinate events and develop programmes and resources that assist the parish and empower both the candidate and the parishioners.
