The Blessed Sacrament Chapel, cathedral foyer and Connolly Hall are set for reopening this month.
Though structurally sound, they are attached to the earthquake-prone Sacred Heart Cathedral, so required some attention. Temporary bracing between the cathedral and the attached buildings is making them safe to use. Connolly Hall has also been given a major makeover during this time.
These facilities will be available to the parish from mid-November, with a parish re-opening celebration planned for Friday, 23 November.
The work on the chapel and hall are preliminary to the major strengthening work to be undertaken on the cathedral. Fundraising for this essential project is in preparation.
