Enlivening the gospel

Fr John Fuellenbach is coming to the Wellington Archdiocese in July/August. This internationally acclaimed speaker will focus on what it is that Jesus tells us about God and the call to witness to the kingdom in our everyday lives. Fr John’s ability to speak in a way that brings the gospel into what we do and are faced with makes him a valuable person to come to the archdiocese.

Fr John was born in Germany and belongs to the Divine Word Missionaries. He studied at the Gregorian University in Rome and at the Catholic University in Washington DC. He has taught extensively throughout the world including the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and at the Regional Seminary in Davao, Philippines. His regular teaching place is in the Gregorian University in Rome. He also taught at the Yarra Theological Union in Melbourne. In 2006 he conducted the clergy conference for all the priests in the Melbourne Archdiocese.

Fr John has written extensively on the theme of the Kingdom of God and how the mission of the church is at the service of God’s Reign. Several of his students say Fr John is the best teacher they have ever had. Their comments arise from what they see as his compelling use of personal stories and witness to his own faith. He shows what it means to be a witness to the kingdom present among us.

He will be presenting in Blenheim on Thursday July 24 and then in the Nelson, Richmond, Stoke, Motueka area on the weekend of July 26/27. From there he goes to Auckland and will make his way down the North Island to be in Wellington on August 12 and 13.
During his time in Wellington Fr John will give a five-session presentation. It will begin with stand-alone, evening session on Tuesday August 12 followed by four sessions on Wednesday August 13.

This is an opportunity to hear someone who can bring the gospel alive. His discussion of the Kingdom of God, how it relates to our call to mission and the question of our vocation as Christians is animated through his skillful story-telling, solid theology and down-to-earth manner.

More details of his visit will be available closer to the time.
