October has been set aside as the month of Discernment for the Archdiocese of Wellington’s Young Church to walk together exploring personal and collective discernment. Discernment is building on earlier events from the Vocations week in August 2014 at the request of young adults and discussions with vocations directors.

‘Discernment is always done in the presence of the Lord, looking at the signs, listening to the things that happen, the feeling of the people, especially the poor,’ – Pope Francis.

Events for the month of Discernment include the following.

Tools for Discernment: Sunday 5 October 2014, Catholic Centre, Hill St, Thorndon: 3.30pm–5.30pm. Come and get equipped with some great tools for discernment and meet other young people who will be exploring this topic over the next month.

Young Church Mass: Sunday 5 October 2014, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Hill St, Thorndon: 7pm. Join with the Young Church to celebrate the monthly Mass.

Prayer Group: Thursday 9 October 2014, St Mary of the Angels, Parish Hall: 6pm. Come together with SMAYAC’s to further explore the role of prayer in your discernment. Keep an eye out in your parish bulletins for other events in October.
