altThe last mass to be held at a packed St John’s, Ngaio, was on Sunday, May 20.
For over 100 years, the church has served Ngaio and Crofton Downs.

After six years of discussions and planning, on Sunday October 16, 2011 the last Mass was celebrated in St Benedict’s in Khandallah.

Having St John’s just down the road, Sunday Mass was a simple move where Mass was celebrated for 31 weeks until the refurbishment at St Benedict’s was completed.

There were many unseen problems that surfaced during the rebuilding which delayed the opening by a further several weeks.

On Pentecost, St Benedict’s was re-opened with a con-celebrated Mass with our parish priest Father Tony Kearns and Marist Fathers Brian Montgomery and Peter Ewart.

Parishioners now report a wonderful church to serve the parish family for many years to come.
