The Archdiocese of Wellington is currently preparing again to welcome former refugees who are resettled in Wellington. Through a partnership with Red Cross and the Anglican Diocese of Wellington, in 2016 we worked to stock and prepare 89 homes for 311 refugees.  Pictured are the Abduljawad family from Syria who were supported into their new Wellington home in 2016.

“Do not tire of courageously living the Gospel, which calls you to recognize and welcome the Lord Jesus among the smallest and most vulnerable.” Pope Francis’ annual message for migrants and refugees (1 January 2017) focuses on children who are among the most vulnerable of migrants.

The next intakes will be in late February and March.  To be part of this work welcoming new New Zealanders, please contact refugees@wn-catholicsocialservices.org.nz or phone 04-385-8642.
