WelCom August 2017: Napier’s Reignier Catholic Primary School recently celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism for 13 students or their younger siblings, baptised into the Catholic Parish of Napier at St Mary’s Church. Through the document Catholic Education for School Age Children, a need had been identified in the school to encourage and support families to deepen their encounter with Christ through the Sacraments. Families were invited to bring their children forward to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. The Parish Baptism Committee had taken them through the programme. Fr Peter Head baptised the children at a special Liturgy, supported by their families, godparents, teachers and several school families. Fr Peter presented Baptism certificates at a school assembly, which involved the whole school community.
