The Catholic Women’s League has raised more than $15,000 this year for gynaecological cancer education.
CWL president Anne Joyce presented a cheque to the New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation during the League’s national board meeting in July.
In thanking CWL, NZGCF trustee Catherine Fyfe said the money would help fund NZGCF’s first gynaecological health educator who will lead their national community education programme.
This relationship with NZGCF engendered through the at-home appeal has also provided an opportunity to raise awareness of gynaecological cancer with League members.
Over the past year, NZGCF speakers have attended six CWL meetings around the country and distributed educational DVDs, brochures and wallet cards to all dioceses.
