WelCom November 2017: David Haas, composer of contemporary liturgical music, presented three workshops in Wellington in October.
Participants, deeply impressed by David’s passion for liturgical music, described the workshops as inspirational and informative. David played and sang his music supported by Michael Mangan. The music created an incredible atmosphere of prayer and unity
When we are weak, we are strong: Praying and Singing the Mystery of Suffering, explored in song and prayer the mystery of suffering and brokenness, ‘the paschal mystery’, which is at the heart of our song. How Different Are We: The Blessed Unity of Sung Prayer, looked at how we deal with the many different tastes people have for music and liturgy, the rising cultural and musical diversity that makes up both the beauty and the challenge of doing music together. Music and the Mass: Step by Step, took participants step-by-step through the Eucharistic Liturgy, looking at the deeper and prayerful purpose of the various parts and what they call for in terms of music.
