St Catherine’s College has an entrance scholarship available for prospective students in 2007. The inaugural St Maria’s Scholarship was awarded at the 2005 College prizegiving to Sarah Castle, who is in Year 9 at St Catherine’s.
The scholarship has been donated by the Ryan family, in appreciation for the education three of their daughters, Eleanor, Caitlin and Aislinn, received at the college. The scholarship pays the recipient’s Catholic Schools Board fees for one year.
Named after the now defunct St Maria’s House, which the Ryan girls belonged to, the scholarship is awarded to a new entrant who shows high academic potential, as well as leadership qualities and extra-curricular interests. This year invitations will be extended to pre-enrolled Year 8 students, who are expecting to attend St Catherine’s College, to sit the scholarship testing, which will be held in Wednesday 26 July 2006.
St Catherine’s will hold an Open Day on Tuesday 23 March from 1.30 to 4.30pm. Staff and students will show prospective students and their parents around the college.
Further information on the Open Day and the St Maria’s Entrance Scholarship is available from the college office – 939 8988.
