Bishop Charles Drennan has appointed Fr Brian Walsh vicar general for the Palmerston North Diocese.

He succeeds Mgr David Bell who has been in the role for many years and who continues as Episcopal Vicar for Marriage.

Announcin the appointment, Bishop Charles said, ‘Fr Brian’s pastoral heart and administrative efficiency render him eminently suitable to the role.’

In response Fr Brian said he feels privileged to serve the diocese in this position and is grateful for the support to make this task possible.

The vicar general helps the bishop in the governance of the diocese as outlined in Canon 475.
