Taita parish’s Charles Brewer (seen, right, with his daughter Lorraine Gray and another relative) received a special 100th birthday present last October – he was awarded the Papal Honour Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice in recognition of his many years of service to parish and archdiocese.
In a special Mass on October 17 parish priest Fr Pat McCullough told how Charlie had served in the parish for many years, including working on the fundraising committee when the previous church burnt down and the parish was faced with the cost of building a new church and hall.
The hall became the existing church.
