A deep sense of compassion and solidarity was experienced as the Catholic Parish of Whanganui – Te Parihi Katorika Ki remembered loved ones who had died over the last year. Parish priest Fr Vaughan Leslie celebrated the Mass of Remembrance at St Mary’s Church on 17 November.
Parishioner Paul Watkins called out the 25 names of those who had passed away as their family members each lit a candle of remembrance and placed it on the decorated table at the foot of the sanctuary steps. It was a moment of poignancy and prayer as memories were honoured.
