The ChangeMakers Women’s Driving Programme is calling for women to volunteer their time to take a former refugee woman for driving practice. Each learner driver has had professional driving lessons and needs practice for their restricted licence test.
Each learner driver will provide a car for her practice sessions.
ChangeMakers Refugee Forum will train volunteers, and volunteers can choose to help a driver in the Hutt, Porirua or Wellington. You’ll make a positive difference to the new drivers’ life and her family’s, gain new skills, increase your understanding of another culture and help improve driver safety on the road.
So far 83 women have been able to learn to drive through our programme. We have 21 new drivers starting driving lessons at the end of October, so we urgently need new volunteers.
Contact me directly at ChangeMakers on email naomi@ crf.org.nz or (04) 801-5812 if you can help.
