WelCom December 2018:

The Feast Day of the Archdiocese of Wellington, the Feast of Immaculate Conception, is 8 December. In previous years this feast day has been celebrated by the Filipino Community at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Hill Street. This year with the closure of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, this celebration will not be taking place. Instead Cardinal John Dew has asked each parish to re-consecrate their church to the patronage of Mary and to pray for protection for our Archdiocese from earthquakes at their parish weekend Masses. On the evening of Saturday 8 December the 5.30pm Vigil Mass at St Teresa’s Church, Karori, will be celebrated where the Cathedra (the Bishop’s Chair) will be installed. St Teresa’s will formally become the Pro-Cathedral and the Archdiocese will be re-consecrated to Mary under the title of the Immaculate Conception.
