Capuchin Friar Fr Gregory Lakra OFM CaP returned to India earlier this year after working for the past 10 years in the Wellington Archdiocese. Most recently he has been assistant priest at Holy Trinity Parish, Wellington East.

Over 300 parishioners gathered in St Patrick’s Church, Kilbirnie, for a special Sunday Mass and social time to farewell and thank Fr Gregory. It was a joyous celebration with contributions and participation from people of the many ethnic groups that make up the parish in Wellington’s Eastern suburbs.

Gregory will be particularly remembered not only for his interest in and pastoral concern for parishioners but also for his love of gardening. We wish him well for his new mission in India.
