175th anniversary of Viard’s arrival

On this day (May 1) in 1850, Philippe Viard arrived in Wellington. Viard was the first bishop of our diocese. A lot’s certainly happened in 175 years – but his name continues today with the house where our Archbishop lives, which is called Viard House.
