Leaders of six Christian denominations met with the Prime Minister and senior Cabinet ministers on Friday 18 March to discuss housing, social cohesion and participatory democracy.
This year’s meeting was held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The church leaders acknowledged challenge facing all leaders in difficult times, but especially, the Prime Minister.
The Church leaders meeting with the Prime Minister is an annual meeting, this year attended by:
- Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia, Archbishop Philip Richardson
- Baptist Churches of New Zealand, National Leader Charles Hewlett
- Catholic Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, Archbishop of Wellington, Cardinal John A Dew
- Methodist Churches of New Zealand, President Rev Andrew Doubleday
- Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, Moderator Right Rev Hamish Galloway
- Salvation Army represented by Major Elizabeth Gainsford
