St Teresas and St Thomas More held a combined Mass on 10 August celebrating priests and vocations.
Henare Walmsley, kaumātua from Te Ngākau Tapu welcomed the priests with three calls from the pūtatara, as they processed into church. Later he carried out the Priests’ Blessing, for Fr Joy and Fr Tikoua who prostrated themselves by the altar, echoing what they did when they were ordained. Hēnare carried out a sprinkling rite using kawakawa leaves over the priests and then blessing attendees.
St Thomas More music group provided music, and the Tongan family group provided the kai after Mass.
