We mourn the passing of Archbishop Novatus Rugambwa, who died in the morning of 17 September New Zealand time.
A native of Tanzania, Archbishop Novatus was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to New Zealand and the Pacific in March 2019. He survived a stroke in October 2023, and moved to Rome in March 2024 to continue his recovery.
Please pray for Archbishop Novatus. We also give thanks for his many years of faithful service both to the Church here in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world.
