Twenty three excited young people gathered in St Patrick’s Church on the Kapiti Coast recently to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.

They were supported by sponsors, parents, teachers and the parish community who delighted in seeing the joy and confidence of these boys and girls as they were called forth and stepped up to be confirmed by Archbishop John.

The children and their parents had gathered over four weeks to reflect on this Sacrament of Initiation and to learn about its place and value in their sacramental life.

The parents appreciated the time to reflect together and the children bonded during their action-packed preparation time.

The youth music group gave richness to the liturgy with appropriate hymns and responses.

The children’s actions to Cosmic Hymn of Praise ensured they all felt involved and were ‘on fire’ with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Each candidate received a cross on a red ribbon to mark the occasion, which they proudly wore, a certificate and a formal group photo.

A generous morning tea enjoyed by all concluded this memorable parish celebration.
