At Masterton’s Chanel College the Young Vinnies has four major projects that run across this year. Each project has a focus on one of the Catholic Corporal Works of Mercy.

Young Vinnies is made up of 34 students from across the school who each choose which project they get involved with. The first project, ‘clothe the naked’, was a clothing drive to support the work of Refugee Services and the St Vincent de Paul shop in Carterton.

During the week of 1 to 5 April the school collected clothes for donations. At the end of the week they held a Fashion Show to model the donations and highlight the community’s generosity. With 15 student models from Years 7 to 13, a teacher model, four hair and makeup artists and team of five support students, the event was an incredible start to the Young Vinnies’ year. The atmosphere was electric with students calling for it be an annual event.

Chanel College would like to thank Bullick & Blackmore of Masterton for their support of the event with their donation of mannequins to model the donations throughout the week.

Overall, the school community donated 15 boxes of clothing.
