Young Vinnies visit aged

Senior students from Chanel College in Masterton have been visiting in some of the city’s resthomes. The eight students have been making the visits weekly.

In the last term of the year, the school’s music teacher, Mrs Christine Wratt, has formed a small singing group to visit and entertain the elderly at Henley Care which specialises in the care of Alzheimer patients. The manager of Henley Care says the elderly look forward to the fortnightly concerts and love to listen to music and sing along. One lady in particular, a former devotee of Scottish dancing dances to the music.

The students see this as an opportunity to reach out and bring some joy into what can be a lonely world. What a privilege.
