The Wellington Archdiocese has appointed Cecily McNeill as the editor of its monthly newspaper, Wel-com.
Cecily graduated from Australian Catholic University last year with a Master of Arts degree, in theology which she had studied over the previous two years. Cecily’s background is in journalism and editing. She spent 20 years in Radio New Zealand, the last 12 as a producer and reporter on National Radio working on such programmes as Morning Report, Rural Report, Insight and Checkpoint, and compiling news bulletins for the commercial network.
In 1991 she left Radio New Zealand to study and to work in the communications area of the Health Department and as an editor with Statistics New Zealand’s publishing department.
Cecily has been working in her parish, for the past seven years coordinating social justice activities, the parish leaders’ team and helping out on the organ. (Her great grandfather was also an organist in her parish.)
In her spare time she likes to read, make music, and play golf with husband, Ian Jamieson.
Cecily will also oversee the archdiocesan communications output.
