Ash Wednesday at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul

The spirit of the Lord was within the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul for Ash Wednesday.

The spirit of the Lord was within the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul on 19 February for Ash Wednesday. At a joint service between the Anglicans, The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Archbishop Paul delivered the homily.

Archbishop Paul said there was something profoundly hopeful about beginning Lent together, something much-needed in our fractured world. As he also told worshippers: “The ashes we receive will be washed away. But the work God does in us these 40 days can last far longer.”

He also said: “Now is the time of salvation.”

Thank you to everyone who made the service possible, and for everyone who attended.
