New award for Sacred Heart restoration

The restoration project at Sacred Heart Cathedral has won another award.

The restoration work by TEAM Architects Wellington and Paul Cummack Conservation Architect won the Resene Total Colour Master Nightingale Award at the recent 16th annual Resene Total Colour Awards.

The award – named after the Nightingale family who founded and still run Resene today – is the latest accolade for the six-year journey to restore the Cathedral

A particularly striking example of the use of colour in the Cathedral is the ceiling. White moulding is complemented by blue that’s evocative of the sky.

The restoration work also won the Resene Heritage Tone-e Award.
