50th anniversary of Cardinal John’s Ordination

Cardinal John will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral this weekend – and it also marks the 50th anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood.

Cardinal John will be celebrating the Saturday Vigil Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral this weekend – and it also marks the 50th anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood.

For 33 of his years of priestly ministry, Cardinal John was in the Cathedral parish, until his retirement in 2023.

Everyone’s invited to the Mass.

Location: Sacred Heart Cathedral (40 Hill Street, Wellington)

Cardinal John – who took part in the conclave last year that elected Pope Leo – will also celebrate the 10am Mass on Sunday (May 10) at the Cathedral.
