WelCom November 2018:

Isabella McCafferty

Young Church Ministry workers, Isabella McCafferty of Wellington, and Joey Bonnevie of Auckland.

Being offered a role in the Young Church team at the Archdiocese of Wellington six years ago was an answer to prayer and a key part of an ongoing call to pastoral ministry – it was the exact job I had hoped for.

My strong call to ministry with young people has been increasingly strengthened. I am grateful to be able to contribute towards something I find meaningful, to work with and for some incredible people and to have had a range of momentous experiences.

My desire is to facilitate opportunities for young people to encounter the person of Christ. How this looks in everyday life isn’t always on the front line. Sometimes it’s in dreaming, planning and emailing. At other times, in the midst of it all, running various events. Often it is in a meaningful meeting or an ongoing connection with someone working toward similar goals.

For what I have been able to offer, for the people I have been able to build relationships with, for the experiences I have had, for the community I am committed to contribute to and for the chance to serve a God who constantly calls me onwards ‒ I am forever grateful.

The Archdiocese of Wellington is looking for a Young Church Ministries Co-ordinator to join its pastoral ministry team, to help grow ministry with young people in the archdiocese. To find our more, please email i.mccafferty@wn.catholic.org.nz for details.

Isabella McCafferty works for the Family and Young Church Vicariate, Wellington Archdiocese.
