Students and staff at Sacred Heart College, Napier, celebrated Pink Shirt Day in spectacular fashion on Friday 17 May, to ‘Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying’. Pink Shirt Day is about working together to stop bullying by celebrating diversity, promoting positive social relationships and creating a community where all people feel safe, valued and respected. Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students, took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new year 10 student was harassed and threatened for wearing pink.
