New Tūranga Māori for Archdiocese

Cardinal John Dew has appointed Deacon Danny Karatea-Goddard as Tūranga Māori for the Archdiocese of Wellington.

“Danny has made a wonderful contribution to Māori pastoral care and bicultural relations in the Diocese of Palmerston North’, said Cardinal John. “He has been called back to his roots in Wellington by his whanau, and we are very pleased to have obtained his services to help us in the Archdiocese as Tūranga Māori. I am grateful to Bishop Charles Drennan for his support in being able to make this exciting new appointment for the Archdiocese.”

Danny will take up his position on Monday 27 February, and will be presented to Cardinal John by both the Bishop of Palmerston North and the Archdiocesan Maori Council Te Kahu o te Rangi at a powhiri that afternoon.
