Br Peter Bray awarded Papal honour as he prepares to step aside as Bethlehem University Vice Chancellor

Br Peter Bray FSC has been awarded the Papal Cross of Honour.

Ka pai and warmest congratulations to our very own Br Peter Bray FSC – Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University – on being awarded the Papal Cross of Honour – officially the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (“For the Church and the Pope”) – one of the highest honours that the Pope can bestow upon the laity and religious. Br Peter received the award from Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, during a recent visit to the Vatican.

As you’ll recall, Br Peter undertook a speaking tour of Aotearoa New Zealand in January and February this year, invited by the bishops to talk about the lives and conditions of his students and ordinary Palestinians. He will leave Bethlehem University at the end of this year after 15 years which he describes as an amazing blessing and by far the most difficult job of his career.
