WelCom December 2017: Jesus 4 Real concluded their 29th year of operation with the Junior Camp at Palm Grove on Kapiti Coast, October 4 to 8 this year. Forty-two campers, years 8 to 10, attended along with 19 cabin leaders, 10 senior leaders and our chaplain Fr Kevin Connors.
Here is what four cabin leaders had to say about the camp.
“As a leader, it was life-changing and a privilege to witness the companionship and growth in the campers, explore faith, hear others’ experiences and encounter God. Every camp I’ve attended has inspired and encouraged me in my own faith journey, and the people I’ve met play a big part in this.” – Daniel
“It was amazing to see campers grow in confidence and joy in their shared love for God and simply having a great time! The group activities, free time, Reconciliation, prayer and Adoration, enabled campers and leaders to encounter God’s presence. People discovered a sense of belonging with like-minded others.” – Catharina
“This year’s camp was amazing fun with many involved and where campers can grow in their relationship with God. Campers become members of a faith community of many supportive people who help when needed in day-to-day life, and in ongoing faith life and who stand by you like a family. It was great to see young teens enjoying life without phones and growing their faith instead!” – Rose
“It was a pleasure to a role model for younger people, helping to lead them towards Jesus Christ and watching them grow closer to God. The ‘togetherness’ of the adult leaders, teen leader and campers calls the Holy Spirit closer. Jesus 4 Real camp is an amazing ‘home away from home’ and a place to come and grow your faith.” – Dion
