A liturgical reception is being held for Archbishop Paul Martin sm at St Teresa’s Church, Karori, 6pm, Friday, 12 August. The reception is expected to take the form of Evening Prayer of the Church, during which Archbishop Paul’s formal letter of appointment to the Archdiocese will be read. Cardinal John Dew, Archbishop of Wellington, has invited parishioners to the reception, which will be followed by light refreshments.
Archbishop Paul will be installed as Archbishop of Wellington when, in due course, Cardinal John Dew retires. Archbishop Paul has been serving as the Coadjutor Archbishop of Wellington since January 2021. From March 2018 until January 2021, he was the 10th Bishop of Christchurch, and its Apostolic Administrator from January 2021 until May 2022.
Worm juice fundraiser for country school
Last year, Years 5 and 6 students of Room 5 at St Joseph’s School in Taihape began learning all about worms from a visiting expert. In his final lesson the expert brought Tiger worms and containers for the students to create their own portable worm farms to take home.
Hīkoi of learning to Far North traces early Marist’s footsteps
Members of Te Āhi Kā o Mātaruranga – a young Catholic adult community from Palmerston North – went on a hīkoi to the Far North late last year to trace the origins of faith mission in this country, through the work of early Marists.
Students awarded Suzanne Aubert tertiary scholarships
Three students have been awarded the Suzanne Aubert Tertiary Scholarship to help them complete their studies in 2023.
