The Kohanga Tertiary Chaplaincy WYD group is discovering hidden talents in their midst. They were on the community stage at the March Newtown Festival with three different items, all earning money for WYD travel.
Items included the 2008 WYD Song, a medieval weaponry display and more music. We also had a craft stall in the main street selling jewellery, cards and artwork by pilgrims.
The face-painting for kids was a great success.
Newtown Festival also provided an opportunity for a cultural fashion show and food fundraiser—a great way to celebrate our diverse community.
The next event is a Jazz Concert featuring Fr Kevin Connors on Friday, April 11, at 7.30pm at the Little Theatre, Lower Hutt, $12 full price, $10 concession. Bookings Ph 472 3257.
