WelCom December 2020

Dr Nathan Matthews, principal of Hato Pāora Māori Boys’ College, greets Archbishop Novatus Rugambwa, Apostolic Nuncio to New Zealand, with a hongi during his first visit to the college. The greeting followed a pōwhiri to welcome His Excellency and fellow guests on 10 November.
Speaking to students, staff and guests, Archbishop Rugambwa said, ‘I bring you the greetings and the blessings of Pope Francis whom I represent in New Zealand. Please, be assured of his prayers for all of you.’ The Nuncio said Catholic education leads to the acknowledgement that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life (Jn 14:6). He concluded by exhorting Hāto Pāora to be at the service of Catholic education characterised by attention, worship, culture and truth, ‘so that all of you may contribute in an ongoing transformation of New Zealand’.
