Youth and young adults from across the region gathered on Sunday 26th March for the first Archdiocese of Wellington Youth Mass for 2023. This Mass was hosted by the St Mary’s of the Angels Young Adults group at St Mary’s of the Angels. Archbishop Paul Martin celebrated the Mass, and the Young Adults group had their choir performing for the Mass.

Louise Lloyd Young Church coordinator for the Archdiocese shared “I love these Masses. One of the purposes of organising these Masses is to give young people the chance to visit different youth communities within our Archdiocese and to give different groups the opportunity to host it each time. We can often become isolated to our own community bubble but it’s always fun to connect with what is happening outside of our bubble, even if it is just the next suburb over to where we normally celebrate Mass ourselves.”

At the Mass Archbishop Paul also highlighted the recently published Catholic New Testament Identity: Identified which was published in response to the Synod on Youth 2018 to support teenagers who may not read scripture to read about issues that are relevant to them.

The next Youth Mass will be Sunday 21 May at 5.30pm at Sacred Heart Church Petone. This Mass will be hosted by Life Teen Hutt Valley.

XLT will also be hosting their first event for 2023 on Friday 12th May at 7pm at St Anne’s, Newtown. This is open to all teenagers and young adults, so invite your friends or bring your whole youth group.
