WelCom March 2018: Christian Life Community, founded on the principles of Ignatian spirituality and prayer, is one of the oldest lay organisations in the Church. Today CLC is active in more than 55 countries.
Last year, when CLC in Wellington celebrated St Ignatius’ feast day, they also celebrated the founding of their own community 20 years ago by Patricia Kane.
At a get-together at St Thomas More Church, Wilton, members old and new shared stories about how and why they joined CLC, graces received and the retreats the community has organised over the years. The commemoration included prayer and formation about the impact of St Ignatius’ life for his followers today and concluded with afternoon tea.
CLC is present in more than 55 countries, and has been in Wellington since 1997. Groups have been in the Palmerston North area from 2012, and in Napier since 2015.
Members follow St Ignatius Loyola’s spirituality with its three main elements – prayer; community; mission.
They meet fortnightly in small groups to share scriptural meditation and faith history, and help one another to find God’s will in their daily lives.
