Tony Devereux of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Tawa, hangs up his rugby boots after 55 years of playing rugby. Starting when he was five, he has recently found that with the onset of early middle age, he’s losing speed and it’s getting harder to keep up. The group of touch players he brought together 22 years ago has been playing weekly but increasingly weakly, Tony says. It’s time to move on to teaching the grandchildren.
