WelCom March 2020:

Mary-Ann Greaney

The Wellington Archdiocese is dedicating 2020 as A Year of Mission and wants everyone to become involved. Cardinal John will launch the year’s programme at two Mission Expo days in March – at Bishop Viard College, Porirua, Saturday, 14 March; and at Garin College, Richmond, Saturday, 21 March.

Mission Expo 2020 will showcase some of the many missionary activities and opportunities in the Archdiocese and everyone is invited to come along to learn more about our Church in action. Featured will be workshops, display booths, cultural exchanges, food fares, games and more, to highlight who we are as a Missionary Church here in the Archdiocese.

There has been tremendous interest and support for Mission Expo from all over the Archdiocese and there’s a waiting list for more organisations wanting to have a booth or to present a workshop. In the North Island, Archdiocesan clergy have put together a basketball team and hope to emerge winners of a tournament with students from our Catholic colleges. Others are putting their names forward to provide entertainment. A schedule of activities is being created for children of all ages so adults can take time to explore the booths. Ethnic and other food varieties will on sale.

Mission Expo 2020 will be at Bishop Viard College, 20 Kenepuru Drive, Porirua, 10am–4pm, Saturday 14 March. There is ample on-site parking and public transport is available by train or bus with a bus stop across the road. Mission Expo 2020 for the upper South Island is at Garin College, 35 Champion Rd, Richmond, 11am–2.30pm, 21 March. Parking is on-site and next to the college and buses stop at the entrance. Schools have had significant input into this event so as well as booths and workshops, a ‘fair’ style atmosphere is expected with good café food available.

Mission Expo 2020 will be a celebration of who we are in the Archdiocese and will take place rain or shine. Bring your family, invite your friends and be sure to register on arrival for door prizes.
