The Church’s National Centre for Religious Studies (NCRS) – part of Te Kupenga-Catholic Leadership Institute – has announced its newly created NZpray2day app for iPhones and other Apple devices.
The NZpray2day app, launched 16 November 2020, follows the introduction in March this year of the Android version.
NCRS Director Colin MacLeod says NZpray2 day supports all age-group users – particularly in Catholic schools and parishes – to enter simply into the richness of the ancient Christian cycle of seasons, saints
and readings.
‘It’s not an exhaustive source of all information in these areas, but it takes snapshots and encourages people to seek a moment to reflect, pray and respond,’ Colin says. ‘It also brings in pieces of history to link this liturgical journey with aspects of the story of New Zealand and the wider world.’
The Android version launched in March is proving an inviting and useful tool for individual, class and staff prayer for in schools, and for whānau and parishioners throughout this country and abroad.
To install on Apple or Android devices, go to Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store; search for NZpray2day, and install. ‘It is free from NCRS and Te Kupenga,’ says Colin.
‘The project has been deceptively complicated to create and maintain. Special acknowledgment goes to Jo Bell as the primary writer on the NCRS team, and Pierre Schmits as designer.’
‘We hope NZpray2day helps people become more easily aware of the gentle cycle of days and months that link us to creation, the life of Jesus and the shared journey of the Church. It is a journey we walk together.’
