The archdiocese has a new vicar for education.
She is Jenny Gordon who has been working in the education area for the past 30 years and currently teaches at St Mary’s College.
She will represent the archbishop in all things to do with education in the archdiocese.
Jenny has taught at all levels from new entrants to year 13 in both state and integrated schools, specialising in mathematics and religious education.
She has also been involved in adult education. For 10 years she coordinated the Catholic Family Life Education programme for the diocese.
Around this time Jenny worked on the protocol committee for eight years and was involved with the development and implementation of the document Te Houhanga Rongo: A Path to Healing.
Jenny is committed to supporting and enhancing quality Catholic education, to ensuring that students have a strong, faith-based community that models gospel values and to fostering strong links between school and parish communities. She is passionate about providing a holistic education and pursuing excellence in all aspects of education.
Jenny takes over in January from Fr Des Darby SM who retired to Feilding in February.
