Gusty cold winds and driving rain did not deter 70 people from walking in a public rally from St Mary’s Church in central Whanganui to the Traditional Catholic Society of St Pius X in Gonville, to mark Respect Life month in October.
Mgr David Bell celebrated Mass for the intentions of those waiting to be born into the wider world, opposition to euthanasia and for the protection of marriage.
During the hour-long walk of reparation, the pilgrims prayed the Rosary.
When they arrived at St Anthony’s Church, they had Benediction followed by a warm drink.
This annual event was organised by the local Voice for Life branch, one of the oldest in New Zealand.
