The Samoan aulotu/community of the Catholic Parish of Wellington South leadership team from St Anne’s, Newtown, met with Archbishop Paul Martin sm in July. They presented to him and the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish a donation of $15,000 to assist with the building fund of the cathedral restoration work.

The team included: Mr Leota Peni Leota, President; Kalala Lui, Vice-President; Malia Vito-Tupai, Treasurer; and Melania Luka-Lui, Secretary as well as chairperson for the CPWS parish council. Archbishop Martin thanked the CPWS Samoan community for their generosity and assistance.

In recent months, the Samoan families within the CPWS aulotu and parish community, the youth, visiting families from Auckland and from around Wellington with their regional chaplaincy catechists, Vaueli and Veronika Tolova’a FKS, have gathered for a couple of ‘Tausala’ evenings over fun, music, entertainment and generosity to help create the gift towards the cathedral project.
