Over 30 adult students of The Catholic Institute of Aotearoa New Zealand ‒Te Pūtahi Katorika ki Aotearoa (TCI) received study awards at a colourful end-of year graduation ceremony on 27 November last year.
Held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Wellington the evening ceremony was filled with supporting families, friends and guests. A pūtātara (conch call) from Henare Walmsley and karanga from Mandy and Rowena Poutama welcomed the student and academic procession.
Singing and prayers were followed by Archbishop John’s student-dedicated homily.
Archbishop John presented the wards with support from Dr Louise Starkey, Associate Dean (ITE) Faculty of Education of Victoria University and TCI’s Dr Anne Touhy, Dr Chris Duthie-Jung and Dr Elizabeth Julian RSM.
Awards included diplomas and certificates in pastoral leadership, religious studies, pastoral ministry, Catholic youth ministry, hospital pastoral ministry, personal interest, religious education, catechetical studies.
Alannah McCaul and Anneke Corich-Hermans delivered a reflection on behalf of the graduates.
