Denise Fox rsm, Aotearoa New Zealand, has been elected as the new president of Mercy International Association.
This association is an organisation of the leaders of Mercy congregations, institutes and federations throughout the world, founded to serve the Sisters of Mercy, their associates and colleagues in ministry.
The purpose of the association is to inspire Sisters of Mercy and their associates to incarnate the spirit of their foundress, Catherine McAuley, in ways which are creative and appropriate to the needs of our time and to foster unity of mind and heart among Sisters of Mercy world wide.
Sr Denise has been leader of the Wellington Sisters of Mercy since 1996. She has been actively involved in all aspects of the Mercy sisters’ efforts towards closer living of their charism.
These endeavours will come to fruition in December 2005 when the Sisters of Mercy will become one congregation in NZ with Sr Denise as leader.
Sister has a wide range of leadership and management experience from her years as a teacher at St Joseph’s School at Upper Hutt, as DRS at St Catherine’s College in Kilbirnie and as an adult education specialist at the Wellington Catholic Education Centre.
Sister Denise is the present chairperson of the NZ Council of Proprietors of Catholic Integrated Schools.
