Three youth ministers have been appointed to Catholic colleges in Wellington as Tuākana (youth ministers) for the archdiocese’s 2024 Youth Minister programme.

Now in its fourth year, the programme assigns each Tuākana to a college to accompany students in their faith journey and support and encourage the students with their college’s Catholic character.

Timothy Ale is at Chanel College; Nick Meli is at Bishop Viard College; and Sarah Beamish is at Sacred Heart College. It is Timothy and Nick’s second year and Sarah’s first year.

The Tuākana began their ministries in January with a week of formation before starting at their schools. Louise Lloyd, Young Church Coordinator, supports them throughout the year with their college projects, running archdiocesan events, visiting one another’s schools, and a retreat.
