This ancient custom in our faith tradition of leaving lighted candles following prayers of petition or of thanksgiving has become popular in recent years and fulfils a great need that was recognised within the prayer life of the parish.
Entering the spaciousness of St Mary’s church, one can’t help but be drawn into the power of the candlelight which creates an immediate spiritual presence.
Pictured is St Mary’s parishioner Margaret Boyle lighting a candle.
