The Lighthouse Cinema in Petone will host the premiere screening of a new film celebrating the 70th anniversary of the arrival, in January 1951, of five Irish Presentation Sisters to Taita, Lower Hutt. The Sisters were the first in a long line of Presentation Order nuns bringing a Catholic education to New Zealand children. 

The World Premiere of this feature-length documentary film, ‘The Furthest Lantern’ is at the Lighthouse Cinema in Petone, 4.30pm, Sunday 21 February. Tickets are $25 and include drinks and nibbles before the screening. The screening will be followed by a Q & A session with the film directors Paul Davidson and Barbara Gibb. Proceeds will go to support Nano Nagle Trust.

The Sunday screening will be preceded by a 10.30am Mass with Cardinal Dew at Saint Michael’s Church Taita, followed by a light luncheon and a visit to St Michael’s School.
